God is Doing a New Thing

Categories: Church News

Part of me wants to say how amazing and monumental yesterday was. I want to call it a huge breakthrough for Ekklesia. I want to talk about what an incredble act of God’s power we witnessed. It was indeed all of those things, but I won’t focus on them just yet.

In reality, what happened yesterday in worship was simply another step on the path to where God is leading us. As great a thing as it was to welcome the people of North Columbia Church into the Ekklesia Faith Community, here is what I want to emphasize the most: We really must get used to God doing such amazing works among us. As I said in yesterday’s sermon, God has been and is doing a new thing, and he has invited us to be part of it.

The merger of North Columbia Church into Ekklesia will officially take place on August 2. That is our first day of worship as the combined faith community. We will gather together at our new location, Evans Christian Academy, currently the home of the worship services of NCC. Mark your calendar, because it will be a great day of celebration and the beginning of our next season of ministry. We will begin worship with a service of commitment for us all to unite as one for the cause of Christ.

Yesterday, Reverend Dan White and the folks from NCC joined us at Patriot’s Park (possibly to see what in the world they have gotten themselves into). Next week, our worship team will be joined by their musicians, who are excited and passionate about leading us in worship. Maybe we’ll call the new team Ecclectic Sea, because it is truly a wonderful mix of talent. The next few weeks will mark a period of transition for both communities, and I want you to join me in bathing this entire process in prayer. It is already apparent that God is the author of this merger.

Dan will serve alongside me as our Assistant Pastor, and will be using his extensive experience and gifts in the areas of evangelism and education. I will share more about Dan’s background and his ministry with us in the coming weeks, but I can tell you I am very excited about what he brings to the table.

We have only begun to see the tip of the iceberg of what God is doing, and you really don’t want to miss out on it. You also don’t want to be that person who shows up only to have the new guy welcome you and introduce you to me as a guest. This is a great time to recommit yourself anew to the ministry of Ekklesia Faith Community. Come be used by God in a new and life chagning way. See you Sunday!
